NexGard is an over-the-counter, chewable tick and flea tablet for dogs. It will last for one month and is available for dogs of all sizes, weighing more than 2 kg and is older than 8 weeks of age.
Indications for Nexgard
NexGard kills adult fleas (Ctenocephalides felis) and is indicated for the treatment and prevention of flea infestations. It is also used for the treatment and control of Brown dog ticks (Rhipicephalus sanguineus) and Yellow dog ticks (Haemaphysalis leachi).
NexGard chewable tablets is administered orally either directly, mixed with a portion of meat/sausage, or mixed with the daily diet. Most dogs will accept NexGard as a treat. Dietary measures or fasting are not necessary. NexGard chewable tablets should be administered as a single treatment according to the weight of the dog:
- Mini dogs (2 – 4 kg)
- Small dogs (4 – 10 kg)
- Medium dogs (10 – 25 kg)
- Large dogs (25 – 50 kg)
For the most effective, routine tick and flea control, puppies and adult dogs should be treated with NexGard once a month, each month of the year.
Units consist of a box containing a single chewable tablet.
