The Vet Hospital Port Shepstone Team

We are a small, but dedicated team looking after your and your pet's medical needs. Our staff currently consists of a registered veterinarian, Dr. Renier Delport and a nurse, Veronica Mpofana. The paraveterinary staff is supported by our three alternating reception ladies, Mandy Bothma, Gail Roets and Charmaine Dacey; our kennel orderly, Charles and our cleaning lady Virginia Mpofana.

Reception Staff

Mrs. Mandy BothmaMandy Bothma
Mandy, permanently joined our supporting staff team in May 2012 and is our morning half day receptionist, front shop assistant and administration. Although originally from Gauteng, Mandy has spend a large part of her life in and out of Port Shepstone. She is responsible for overseeing all administrative tasks, ordering medicines and front end and shop related tasks.

Mandy is impressive with her friendliness and lovingness towards animals. She also loves singing, reading, drawing and horses. She is married to Dwayne and they have a baby boy named Khyle. Mandy also has a pet Ringneck parakeet named "Noddie".

Gail Roets
Gail very recently joined (November 2013) as our other morning reception and front shop assistant. Gail and Mandy are usually the first face or voice you'll encounter at the hospital. Apart from running reception she is also responsible for client communication correspondence.

Gail is married to Morné and they have two sons, André and Dewald and a daughter Daniélle. She also shares the house with a puppy Bull terrier "Rambo", a sausage dog 'Mitzy, and two cats "Lizzy" and "Lillie" and a tank full of fish.

Charmaine Dacey
Charmaine joined early 2014 and is the newest member of our front staff team. She is manning the afternoon reception and Vet Shop. Charmaine is married to Keiron and has a very boisterous Boerboel named "Titan" and a mouse named "GT" as part of her extended family.

 

Veterinary Doctors & Nursing Staff

Dr. Renier Delport
Born and matriculated in Sasolburg, Free State and graduated in 2007 as veterinarian (BVSc.) at the Faculty of Veterinary Science (Onderstepoort) of Pretoria University. Since then worked and locumed in various small animal veterinary practices in the West Rand of Johannesburg and permanently joined Vet Hospital Port Shepstone in August 2011.

Some of his interests includes computer and electrical technology, quadding, DIY, photography and photo editing. Pets includes "Oortjies" (Dashshund X), "Neo" and "Bonnie" (both DSH felines).

Ms. Veronica MpofanaVeronica Mpofana
As the most experienced supporting staff member in our team, Miss. Veronica was introduced to the hospital well over ten years ago. We sometimes call her Veron, her friends calls her Vero. Veronica is bread, born and raised in Port Shepstone.

She is currently a sideline entrepreneur, church activist and a well known personality and activist in her community. Veronica is not only our caring nursing lady, but also in charge of treating our hospital cases, assisting with all important procedures and operations and in charge of keeping our hospital clean.

Veronica has a son, Sibongiseni and a doggie named "Timmy".

Supporting Staff

Mr. Charles NzimandeCharles Nzimande
Charles joined our team in 2012. He is a keen soccer lover and player and seems to show some interest in driving big vehicles such as trucks. Charles is currently working with everything from handling our patients, assisting with hospital procedures to cleaning and managing the hospital accommodation.

In our hospital, Charles has plenty opportunity to extend his loving and caring nature towards our hospital cases. Charles always impress with his friendliness, willingness to learn and ability to help, even when help is not needed.

Virginia Mpofana
As our cleaning lady, Virginia stands in when there is a shortage in the hospital staff.
